The place was built by Azam Shah son of Aurangzeb in the memory of his mother Dilras Begum. The architect of the monument, Ataullah was the son of Ahmad Lahuri who designed the Taj Mahal hence one could find some striking resemblance to the Taj.
The monument is the symbol of a son's love for his mother. The main entrance has a series of fountains in a manner that is very similar in appearance to the Taj. At the time of construction River Kham flowing behind gave a breathtaking view from the backyard. The white marble dome is decorated with flower patterns adding beauty to the place.
The monument is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The Ellora caves are a group of 100 Hindu, Buddhist and Jain Caves out of which 34 are open for tourists. The place has been included in the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. The precisely rock-cut structure lies at a distance of about 30km from the main city of Aurangabad. Ellora caves were made by Rushtrakuta dynasity and the Yadav dynasity. The caves dates back to 600 CE and were used as the meditation center and a resting place for the travelers. Cave 16 is a major attraction for the tourist because of the world's largest single monolithic rock excavation- the Kailasha Temple. The Kailasha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the various sculptures and paintings on the walls depict Hindu deities. The Vishvakarma Cave (Cave No. 10) has a 15ft Buddha Statue and the fine rock-cut structure of the cave looks like wooden beam. Other important caves includes chota kailasha(cave 30),Dhumar Lena(Cave 29),Jagannatha Sabha(Cave 33). The Ellora caves are located in Shyadri hills and winters and monsoon are best time to visit this place.

Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Maharashtra is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga in India. It is located near Ellora Caves(approx 1km) and at a distance of 30km from the main city of Aurangabad. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and finds its mention in the Shiva Purana. The 240X185 ft temple is constructed in the south Indian Architecture is one of the most sacred places of worship and attracts devotees across the country. Men can only enter the Garbhagriha bare-chested. Many attempts had been made to destroy the temple by the Mughals in the past. The temple was rebuilt in the 16th cen. however, the present-day structure was built by the Rani Ahalyabai-the queen of Indore.

The Daulatabad Fort in Aurangabad was built by Bhilama V. who was the first king of the Yadav Dynasty. The fort lies in the midway between Aurangabad City and the Ellora Caves. The distance of Daulatabad Fort to Ellora Cave is 14 km. The top of the fort offers a beautiful view of the city. To reach the summit of the fort one needs to climb 750 stairs. A massive old cannon is placed at the apex of the fort as a reminder of the ancient glory of the place. The fort was considered highly secure and the architectural design provided strong resistance to the invading army. The fort also had a complex to keep the prisoners popularly known as the "chini mahal" because of the blue and white tiles also known locally as "chini mitti".The site is protected under the Archaeological Survey of India.
